CITROËN Ë-C5 AIRCROSS

When comfort becomes a modern selling point

In its more than 100-year automotive history, the Citroën brand has been known for many things—its innovations, its boldness—but above all for one thing: comfort. Several of the brand’s iconic models were on display at the “French Car Meeting 2025” at Motorworld Kempthal. A few months later, at the same venue, we had the opportunity to take a closer look at the latest model bearing the double chevron logo: the Citroën ë-C5 Aircross.

This electric SUV can be seen as a confident return to Citroën’s fundamentals. The chassis clearly prioritizes comfort: it absorbs bumps, smooths out imperfections, and swallows potholes with confidence. The quiet handling and excellent sound insulation promote a relaxed driving experience. The numerous driver assistance systems intervene readily, without ever becoming intrusive. Pleasant on the highway and agile in the city, the ë-C5 Aircross even seems more compact than it really is thanks to its good visibility.

Measuring over 4.65 m long, it boasts a modern design with clean lines. The bold front end gives it presence, while its overall look remains dynamic. As is often the case with Citroën, style sometimes takes precedence over functionality: the distinctive “Light Blades” rear lights are sure to turn heads. Inside, certain elements such as the large side speakers follow the same logic. Otherwise, the atmosphere is lounge-like: comfortable seats with optional massage function, high-quality materials, and meticulous assembly. The gap with some of the group’s premium brands seems to have narrowed significantly. Where the ë-C5 Aircross really impresses is with its interior space. In the back, even tall adults enjoy excellent freedom of movement—thanks to a wheelbase that is six centimeters longer than the previous generation. The electric version we tested is neither abrupt nor sluggish. According to the WLTP standard, it has a range of over 520 km; during our test, after 450 km, the battery still had a comfortable reserve. For those who don’t want to switch to all-electric right away, Citroën also offers a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. It’s up to each individual to choose the powertrain that suits them best. In short: the ë-C5 Aircross delivers exactly what you would expect from a modern electric family vehicle—impressive range, exceptional comfort, and bold design.
