All the palaces of the world have their own car park. Le Baur au Lac has gone further for decades and has opted for a real garage to serve its fleet.
At the dawn of the 20th century, hotel pioneer Karl Kracht realizes that the automobile will inevitably replace the horse-drawn carriage and that space to park customers’ cars will soon become a priority. In 1905, he bought a workshop near the establishment. It functions as a garage and repair shop for Baur au Lac. The hotel’s luxury car fleet includes several vehicles including a Bentley flying spur.
From 19th century carriages to electric lamps and tablets, the evolution is permanent at Baur au Lac.
For nearly two centuries, Baur au Lac has not only defied changing times, but has constantly reinvented itself to offer its guests the latest amenities. A journey through history in an unparalleled historical ensemble.
