Philipp Peter

At the heart of the luxury real estate market in Ticino

For over fifty years, Wetag has been considered an indispensable reference in the field of luxury real estate in Ticino. At the helm of the company is Philipp Peter, owner and co-CEO, who opens the doors to a market that is as exclusive as it is coveted.

TESSIN – AN EMERGING DESTINATION

“Ticino is attracting more and more international buyers – and this trend is set to continue,” explains Philipp Peter. The region is seeing steady price increases in the high-end segment, driven by a growing number of wealthy clients, mainly from Germany, Scandinavia, and Italy, and more recently also from the US. The reason? A unique combination of quality of life, pleasant climate, attractive flat-rate taxation, and reassuring stability.

“Many are fleeing political uncertainty in their home countries to find a safe and elegant retreat here,” he adds. Wetag works with renowned international partners to meet the high expectations of its clientele. Among other things, the company is a partner of Christie’s International Real Estate, Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, and Luxury Portfolio International, as well as a founding member of the European Real Estate Network (EREN).

100% LUXURY AS A SPECIALIZATION

Wetag was founded in 1973 and made a clear decision: to focus exclusively on sales. “We don’t deal with rental management—this allows us to concentrate fully on high-quality transactions,” emphasizes Philipp Peter.

With a global network and a strong digital presence, the agency strives to remain at the top of online search results in order to offer its clients maximum visibility and access to the most qualified buyers. “Our strength lies in the combination of local expertise, international reach, and a tailor-made approach.

AUTOMOBILES AND REAL ESTATE – A SHARED PASSION

Ticino has always had a close relationship with motor racing, not least thanks to famous Formula 1 drivers such as Clay Regazzoni and Loris Kessel, as well as the Kessel Racing team, which is still run today by Ronnie Kessel, Loris’ son. This passion is also occasionally reflected in the properties on offer.

“We are currently marketing a property in Montagnola with an underground car park for 30 vehicles and 15 outdoor parking spaces,” says Philipp Peter. Of course, not all properties have such facilities – due to the topography and limited availability of building land, existing properties are often renovated.

Philipp Peter himself also has a deep passion for motorsport: His career began in karting and led him to formula racing cars and an impressive career with over 400 races, 100 podium finishes, and 30 victories, including the GTS title in the 2009 International GT Open, third place in the 2002 24 Hours of Le Mans, and victory in the 2003 12 Hours of Sebring with Audi. After 25 years as a professional racing driver, Philipp swapped his racing suit for a suit and tie – and joined Wetag.

The most sought-after locations? Castagnola and Montagnola, especially the Collina d’Oro, where there is also a prestigious international school. Here, discreet luxury combines with breathtaking views of the lake.
