CHRISTIAN CANONICA

A rising young talent from Ticino

Ticino has always had a special relationship with cars and motorsports. Among the young Swiss drivers who have emerged in recent years, Christian Canonica represents a new generation determined to carve out a place for itself on the international scene. Born in Biasca, in the canton of Ticino, Canonica discovered the world of racing at a very early age. His father, a former karting driver, passed on his passion for racetracks and speed to him. It didn’t take long for the young man from Ticino to realize that motorsports could become much more than just a hobby.

Christian Canonica began his career in karting in 2018. As is the case for many professional drivers, karting serves as the true training ground. On European circuits, he learned to refine his racing lines, manage the pressure of competition, and develop the consistency in performance essential for advancing to the highest levels. His performances quickly attracted attention, and Canonica distinguished himself in numerous international and world championships.

His father, a former karting driver, instilled in him a passion for racing circuits and speed.

One of the key moments of his early years came in 2022, when he secured an international victory in the Senior Rok category at the Franciacorta circuit in Italy. This success marked an important milestone in his career and confirmed his potential as he competed against drivers from around the world.

Between 2023 and 2024, he racked up podium finishes, victories, and top placements in the world’s most prestigious races—such as the World Karting Series, the ROK Super Final, the Margutti Trophy, and top-tier Italian national races—establishing himself as one of the strongest drivers of his generation in the world.

After several seasons in karting, 2025 marks a decisive turning point in his racing career. Christian Canonica is making the switch to auto racing by joining the Italian Sport Prototype Championship, a series recognized as a springboard for many young drivers. At the wheel of a Wolf GB08 Raiden for the Wolf Racing Cars team, he takes on a new challenge, where not only pure speed but also aerodynamics management, race strategy, and collaboration with engineers become essential.

In his first season in the category, the driver from Ticino achieved a remarkable result. Thanks to his consistent performance and five podium finishes in 12 races throughout the season, Canonica managed to finish third overall
in the Italian Sport Prototype Championship—a particularly significant achievement for a rookie.

This result demonstrates his ability to adapt quickly to prototype cars and compete with more experienced drivers. Despite some technical difficulties encountered during the season, Canonica has shown maturity and consistency at prestigious circuits such as Monza, Vallelunga, Mugello, and Imola.

At just eighteen years old, Christian Canonica is already one of the rising stars of Swiss and international motorsports. Ambitious and determined, the young driver from Ticino continues to work toward a clear goal: to keep improving and, step by step, build a career in professional motorsports.

THE FUTURE OF CHRISTIAN CANONICA

Fresh off a series of very positive winter tests in various touring car categories, his career path will likely lead him to compete in the Ligier European Series, on major European circuits such as Spa, Barcelona, and Silverstone. Christian will have the opportunity to compete against other experienced drivers, accompanied by his loyal supporters and sponsors, who are enthusiastically following him on this fantastic journey.
