The watchmaker Lorige continues to explore the connection between motorsports and fine watchmaking with two new variations of its iconic BL-Evolution model: the Hyperblack and BleuAsphalte versions. True to the brand’s DNA, these timepieces are crafted using Lorige’s patented process, which transforms genuine carbon-carbon brake pads from racing cars into watch components. In this specific case, the material comes from the Aston Martin Valkyrie Hypercars entered by the Heart of Racing Team in endurance racing
The BL-Evolution Hyperblack features a sporty, high-contrast design. The green and yellow accents echo the colors of the Valkyrie No. 007 and No. 009 that competed in the World Endurance Championship. The dial highlights the marbled appearance of the carbon fiber from the brake pads, while the LOR-DB02 movement stands out with a sophisticated “Duo-Tone” finish: micro-beaded black PVD-coated mainplate and bridges, rhodium-plated Côtes de Genève, and hand-finished bevels.
The Bleu Asphalte draws its inspiration directly from the racetrack. Its dial features a texture reminiscent of asphalt, and the material used comes from brake pads employed in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. It is powered by the LOR-DB01 caliber and paired with a Blue THOR strap, which reinforces its strong connection to the world of racing.
Each watch is engraved with the name and date of the race in which the brakes were used, lending it a unique sense of authenticity and narrative. With only 50 pieces produced of each, these two Swiss-made editions embody Lorige’s vision: to create timepieces that literally bring the history of motorsports to the wrist.
