TAG Heuer X Porsche, an official union

The creation of the new TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph watch marks the first step in global partnership between these two iconic brands.

[eltdf_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]F[/eltdf_dropcaps]rom its birth to the present day, “Carrera” has evoked the thrill of racing. This name now also symbolizes the union of two companies that have worked for its glory, sharing a common history of innovation and motor racing.

A STYLE WITH MULTIPLE REFERENCES

The TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph is a clever blend of the style of the two houses, combining numerous references to the Porsche and TAG Heuer codes in form, font and color. One will particularly appreciate the dial’s asphalt effect, created especially for this watch which expresses the brand’s shared passion for the track. Regarding “the heart” of the beautiful creation, the Caliber Heuer 02 is a praiseworthy descendant of the revolutionary Caliber 11 created in 1969 by Jack Heuer, which was then the very first automatic chronograph in the world. Now, this mechanism allows 80 hours work in autonomy. In terms of the oscillating weight, it takes the typical shapes of the Porsche steering wheel. The name of Porsche is elegantly inscribed on the ceramic frame, like a signature joining the one of TAG Heuer.

A STORY OF COMMON ROOTS

Known to be extremely dangerous, the “Carrera Panamericana” was a 3’300 km endurance race winding through Mexico. Banned in 1954, it was no less legendary in people’s minds, and inspired Jack Heuer when he named the first Carrera chronograph in 1963. A few years later, Porsche also paid tribute to this race by unveiling its 911 Carrera. And it was the Swiss Jo Siffert, one of the greatest drivers of the 1960s, who became the standard bearer of both brands. As a friend of Ferry Porsche and close to Jack Heuer, he drove a Porsche 907 in endurance race, and wore a Heuer chronograph on his wrist. Success was also there, bringing him the victories at the 24h of Daytona and the 12h of Sebring in 1968. This new collaboration therefore is announced to be under the best auspices and foresees new exceptional models, in the same line as this chronograph which seals the union between the two legends.
